K&K Billiards: The Neighborhood Pool Hall on Our Block
You don't have to go far for a game of pool. K&K Billiards is on the same block of 79th Street as Shoe Gallery, just steps east of our door, and it's the kind of spot where one quick game turns into a whole night. Miami New Times named it Best Pool Hall in 2017 and again in 2020.
First Impressions & Vibe
K&K bills itself as more than a pool hall: it's a neighborhood restaurant with real food, bar bites and drinks in a relaxed, welcoming setting. The food photos on its online menu set the mood: plates on dark tables, with blue and pink neon glowing behind the bar.
The tables are the main event. When New Times gave K&K the Best Pool Hall nod in 2020, it counted 15 well-kept, comfortably spaced Diamond Professional tables, noted that K&K is an officially sanctioned American Poolplayers Association venue that hosts tournaments, and said it is as welcoming to beginners as it is to seasoned players. Back in 2017, New Times also liked that the tables are spaced far enough apart that you're not dodging the next player's cue. Translation: whether you shoot in a league or haven't picked up a cue since high school, you're good here.
What to Order
Pool works up an appetite, and K&K's menu goes way past bar snacks. Here's what's on its online menu right now:
- Team Plates for the table: Bourbon Sliders, Beer Cheese Dip, Bruschetta, Chips & Guacamole, Mixed Ceviche and a Shrimp Platter.
- Tacos and quesadillas: a steak taco with pico de gallo, gorgonzola and chimichurri aioli, plus shrimp, tuna, chicken and veggie versions.
- Burgers and sandwiches: The Original Burger (6 oz. Angus beef, muenster and caramelized onions on a challah bun), an Ahi Tuna Burger and a Philly Cheesesteak.
- Bowls and plates: steak, shrimp, tuna, chicken and veggie bowls, a skirt steak platter and honey-marinated Atlantic salmon.
- Something sweet: Triple Chocolate Cake or the dulce de leche Thousand Layer Cake.
Pro tip: the Team Plates are made for passing around between racks. To drink, New Times pointed to a wide selection of craft beer and wine in its 2020 write-up.
Why We Love It
Every block needs a place to hang out that isn't a club and isn't your couch. K&K is that spot on ours: easygoing, good food, and a game waiting whenever you are. Bring a friend you've been meaning to beat.
