SG RUN CLUB 2023: LAUNCHING AT OUR NEW HOME
Early Birds and Enthusiasm: The anticipation and enthusiasm for our run were so high that our incredible run club and community arrived at our new spot as early as 5pm—even though the run was scheduled for 6:30. Over 30 runners showed up, ready to embrace the new chapter. Seeing their excitement and energy firsthand, especially considering the short distance from Downtown, filled our hearts with gratitude and affirmed that this move was the right one.
Opening Words: Speeches by Danny, NormaNow, and Lord LaFlare set the tone. Their words of gratitude, unity, and purpose connected deeply with our runners, establishing the positive vibes we strive to bring to every gathering. Their message left us all motivated and ready to hit the pavement as one community.
New Mural, New Energy: Our new backdrop mural—'GONE RUNNING'—by artist Kenny transformed the wall with nostalgic Nike ads and Pegasus references. We also collaborated with Miami graffiti legend Tragek, who added his signature touch to the space, blending sneaker culture with street art in a way only Miami can.
Nike Support: Big shoutout to Kenny and the Nike team for providing samples of the Peg 40 for our runners to test. Though many of our community members usually prefer other footwear brands, the Peg 40's performance, comfort, and style turned heads and feet. It was a win for function and fashion.
Celebration Continues: After the run, we kept the vibes going with music, food, and giveaways. The first 50 runners to arrive received SG x Nike tote bags, wristbands, and complimentary refreshments courtesy of Red Bull. It was a perfect mix of wellness, community, and culture.
El Bori Afterparty: The night ended with a trip to El Bori Food Truck to celebrate the Puerto Rican Air Force 1 launch. Runners were given vouchers to enjoy delicious eats and continue the community-building well into the night.
Looking Ahead: This wasn’t just a run—it was the rebirth of SG Run Club in our new home. We’re energized, inspired, and already gearing up for what’s next. If you missed it, don’t worry—this was just the beginning. Come run with us.
