79th Street Neighborhood Clean Up and Crawl
Event Recap:
In a heartwarming display of community spirit and environmental consciousness, the 79th Street Neighborhood Cleanup and Crawl took place on May 29th, 2024. Organized by VolunteerCleanup.org in collaboration with the Shoe Gallery, New Schnitzel House, and Technique Records, the event aimed to clean up the neighborhood and support local businesses while educating the community about the importance of keeping our environment clean!
The Kickoff
The day kicked off at the Shoe Gallery, where volunteers gathered for introductory remarks, instructions, and supply distribution! The energy was high as participants geared up with gloves, pickers, buckets, and bags, ready to make a difference in their neighborhood. The event also offered a few sneaker raffles for our volunteers as a token of our appreciation!
Neighborhood Cleanup
Throughout the day, volunteers made their way around the neighborhood, cleaning up litter and debris as they went. The camaraderie was enjoyable as neighbors came together for a common cause, sharing laughs and stories along the way.
Technique Records Break
A brief stop at Technique Records provided a much-needed break and an opportunity for a 20-minute educational segment on the impact of trash on our oceans!
Trash Totals and Impact
Thanks to all the volunteers who came out to help clean up our new home in the Upper East Side! In less than an hour, we were able to clean up 167 pounds of trash. Let’s keep taking care of our community together!
Celebration at New Schnitzel House
The event culminated at the New Schnitzel House, where participants were treated to refreshments and a well-deserved celebration. As the sun set on a successful day of community action, the group reflected on the impact of their efforts and the importance of continued environmental stewardship!
