When it comes to all things soccer related, Barcelona will always be synonymous with extreme levels of progressivism and flair. It’s not enough to win; you have to entertain an audience as aesthetically discerning as any fine arts crowd. Victory must be achieved beautifully.

Luxury retailer Sivasdescalzo applies this spirit to their first Adidas Consortium collaboration, a colorful interpretation of the Sobakov silhouette inspired by the 1982 World Cup. Although Spain’s results were utterly disappointing, the 1982 tournament would prove to be an especially memorable one, with a number of classic matches, most notably the second group stage's group of death encounters between Italy, Brazil and Argentina, taking place in Barcelona’s Camp Nou and Sarria stadiums.

The Sivadescalzo Sobakov features a multi-material, multicolor design drawn from tournament mascot Naranjito, an anthropomorphic orange outfitted in a Spain kit. A mesh upper features the green and black of Naranjito’s cleats, the external stripe branding/lacing structure is rendered in orange suede, while a leather heel sports the bright blue of the national team’s shorts. Co-branding in the form of a modernist update of Naranjito is subtly applied to the tongue label, while the original Naranjito features on the shoe’s insole.
